Pelvic Health Overview Video

Rebecca Jankowiak, PT, DPT, is a pelvic floor therapist and gives an overview of pelvic health services available at Peake Physical Therapy.

How Pelvic Health Therapy Can Help

Everyone has a pelvis, men and women alike. And everyone, can suffer from a pelvic injury. in addition, there are other medical issues affecting the pelvis. This can include incontinence, sciatica, or lower back pain. If this describes you, you may be a candidate for pelvic health services at Peake Physical Therapy in Baltimore, MD (and West Towson).

In some severe cases, you may need to see a medical specialist for certain pelvic issues. These specialists could include seeing your OB/GYN doctor, orthopedic surgeon, or urologist. But in many cases, pelvic health issues can be resolved rather quickly with physical therapy.

With physical therapy, you get individualized care for your specific issue. It’s not a one-treatment-fits-all approach. Instead, your physical therapist works with you to evaluate the cause of your issue. And then she or he devises a rehabilitation plan to address the ’cause’ of your condition as opposed to merely treating the symptom.

Many women’s health issues can also be treated with pelvic health therapy. This can include postpartum complications, menopause, painful sexual intercourse, and difficulties with pregnancy.
